When an adult loses his permanent teeth it’s not normal and there can be several reasons associated with it; it could be due to the decay or hereditary factor or due to traumatic injury.
Gum
Diseases
One of the most acute cause of tooth loss is
gum diseases. Gum is the structure on which the teeth rest and if it gets
infectious teeth loosen and fall out or have to be extracted in order to stop
it spreading. Gum disease can be prevented by taking a good care of oral
hygiene, having health food and getting good dental treatment.
Eating
Habits
There are a lot of foods
which build cavities, especially the ones which have high level of
carbohydrates. Dentist often refrain people from having huge quantities of
sweet and sticky food like chocolates, sweets or fizzy drinks and starchy foods
as they increase the risk of tooth decay by building more and more cavities. In
all such cases once the tooth decay occurs with severe toothache and dentist
has to be consulted immediately to take correct actions.
Poor
Oral Hygiene
Oral hygiene is important
otherwise permanent teeth can be lost forever. Brushing teeth at least twice a
day is important otherwise it can cause tooth decay, cavity starts building up
and even the bacteria collect together to cause tooth decay.
Smoking
Smoking is also bad for
oral hygiene, the people who smoke often have pale colored or even damaged
teeth which look dirty; tobacco is harmful for gums and teeth. Saliva in the
mouth keeps the teeth clean; while smoking tobacco interferes in the production
of saliva and reduces its outcome. Smoking is harmful for oral hygiene.
